REACTIVE DOG ADVOCACY IN HUNGARIAN

If you’re walking your dog in Hungary, you’ve probably had moments where you needed to communicate with other dog owners—whether it’s to ask them to call their dog back, let them know your pup needs space, or simply set boundaries. But when there’s a language barrier, that can be tricky.

Here are a few key Hungarian phrases to help you advocate for your dog and create space when needed:

  • NEM = NO

  • Nem kutyabarát (nem koot-yah-bore-at) = Not dog friendly

  • Nem barátságos (nem bore-at-shag-oash) = Not friendly

  • Fél a kutyáktól (fail ah koot-yak-toll) = He is scared of dogs

  • Hívd be légyszi (heeved beh ledge-see) = Please call your dog back

These phrases can make a big difference when trying to avoid unwanted interactions or ensure a stress-free walk.
